Lightning strikes again! The Baylor-TCU football game faced a series of frustrating delays, making for a long and eventful Saturday.
The game was initially paused in the fourth quarter. TCU had just surged ahead with a 35-21 lead, thanks to Trent Battle's impressive 65-yard touchdown run. The initial delay was triggered by lightning detected near the stadium.
After a lengthy 58-minute pause, the teams returned, and the skies seemed to have cleared. However, the game was abruptly halted again after only about 15 minutes of play. This time, the stoppage occurred immediately following Baylor's failed fourth-down attempt with only 6:42 left on the clock. Referee Cravonne Barrett announced lightning within 8 miles of the stadium.
Interestingly, this second delay happened after the severe thunderstorm warning for Tarrant County, where TCU is located, had ended.
And the drama didn't end there! After the teams had returned to the field for a second time, ready to resume, Barrett announced a third delay, this one lasting at least 30 minutes.
